Address : Thoi Thuan commune, Thot Not District, Can Tho. Location : Located on National Road No. 91, on the way between Can Tho and Long Xuyen.
Direction : From city centre, pass Nguyen Trai, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Le Hong Phong streets to National Road No. 91. It is about 45 km from Can Tho centre, on National Road No.91, turn left immediately after small Bang Lang bridge. It is few kilometers off the highway, takes about 30 minutes walk.
Tourists can take a bicycle tour, or rent a motorbike, or take a bus from Can Tho to Long Xuyen and stop at Bang Lang bridge, then take a motorbike taxi to the Garden.
Time to visit: The best times to see the birds are from 5am to 6a or from 4pm to 6pm.
Bang Lang Stork Garden, a 1.3 hectare stork sanctuary, is a popular stop of international and domestic tourists coming to view thousands of storks. More than ten species of storks are residing here.
Visitors can see these birds returning home in late afternoon after the whole day seeking food from other places. There is a tall wooden viewing platform to view the birds. The scenery of thousands of storks flying around and gathering in the Garden is really exotic to visitors.
Can Tho’s Handicarft Villages
On the way to the Stork Garden, tourists can visit interesting handicraft
villages in Thot Not District. These villages are specific to the countryside
with the system of rivers and canals in Mekong Delta. There are villages such as
Di Tho lop village (Lop is a tool made of bamboo to catch fishes), Ba Rui
cookstove (made of clay) village in Thoi Long commune - O Mon district, and Thom
Rom net village in Thom Rom commune – Thot Not district.
