Presently,
getting along Y Ngong street, we behold the house with natural
beautiful architecture of Bao Dai Palace; it used to be the house of
the former French Resident in Buon Ma Thuot City.
In 1940, the house was rebuilt after the pattern of Highland
architecture combined with modern features. The roof and floor of the
house was made of wood and there was a basement. Looking at the front
of the house, it looked like a long house, and the back looked like a
European style. With surrounding secular trees made the house solider.
Later, Emperor Bao Dai used it for his living and reception.
After
the victory of the August revolution in 1945, Viet Minh –DakLak
provisory revolutionary committee used this luxurious place kept out of
people in former for receiving guests and meeting.
In October
1945, DakLak ethnic minorities unification festivals was held in the
old house of the French Resident (Bao Dai palace), in which displayed
productions of DakLak people, this passed off in the united and solemn
atmosphere.
Also at this place, many important meetings of the
Viet Minh were held, they discussed on developing anomalism, building
the revolutionary ochlocracy. At the early days in December 1945, there
was flight to prevent the meeting of provisory revolutionary committee.
One of three Japanese militancy that were in Viet Minh army, sacrificed
spiritedly in this place.
In the resistance of fighting American
imperialist, Bao Dai Palace was struck again and again. In chief, in
the general attacking of the spring 1968.
After the liberation
of the South of Viet Nam, the palace was renamed “Biet Dien
guest-house” receiving many Party and State leaders.
Biet Dien
Palace was admitted as a historical-culture vestige by The Cultural
Communicative Ministry. Today, it became the place used for displaying
historical cultural objects of DakLak ethnic groups. In order to
preserve the beautiful-style house, with nice, wild landscape where
many historical and revolutionary events took place, the local
authority try their best to make DakLak Museum develop with the deep
ethnic feathers.
