have specialised in single-commodity production, each family sharing
their knowledge only within their village, therefore restricting the
product's production to the one community. This tour takes you to some
of the best of these villages which specialise in the following
products: pottery, painting, silk, lacquer and rattan. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 08.30 Departure. Journey west of Hanoi to Bat Trang Ceramic Village, here you can wander freely into any of the workshops or galleries inside the village. See the ceramics being made whilst you watch (if you wish you can buy any of the products that are being produced). Following
drive to Dong Ho folk painting village where for 300 years, people have
been making "Dzo" paintings (the printing paper is made of bark of a
tree called "Dzo" which is make from completely natural materials). After visiting Dong Ho return to Hanoi for lunch. Travel south to Van Phuc Silk Village in Ha Tay Province, the village is considered as the cradle of silk weaving in Vietnam and this beautiful fabrich as been woven here for over 1,000-years. After
journey south to Duyen Thai lacquer village where the whole process of
lacquer production can be seen from start to finish. Nearby is Xam Duong Village where rattan products are made, following drive back to Hanoi, admiring the charming scenery of the Red River Delta.Hanoi
