
Con Dao National Park, about 180km southeast of Vung Tau, was established in early 1984 with a total area of 15,043 ha of which 6,043 ha are covered with forests. The park is a restricted ecosystem with diverse flora & fauna and if visitors are lucky enough, they can spot turtles laying eggs on the beach.
Day 1: Hochiminh City - Con Dao Islands (-/L/-)
AM:
Transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for departure Con Dao by VN1421 at
05:55 (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as Vietnam Airlines Schedule 2005
by AT7). Con Dao, called Poulo Condore by Western sailors, housed a
large and brutal prison for political convicts before 1975. 07:05
arrival at Ben Dam Airport, pick up and transfer to visit the features
historical sites in town such as the Con Dao Museum and the notorious
former prison tiger cages.
PM: Visit the Con Dao National Park office, followed by a seminar on turtle rescue if available.
Day 2: Con Dao (B/L/-)
AM:
A cluster of wild islets surrounded by emerald tranquil waters, Con Dao
is home to a number of species of sea turtle and dugong. Escorted by a
park ranger, take a full-day boat ride to Bay Canh Islet and Cau Islet,
their natural habitat. Picnic lunch of seafood is arranged on board.
PM: Enjoy snorkeling and sunbathing on primitive beaches.
Day 3: Con Dao - Hochiminh City (B/-/-)
AM:
Transfer to the airport for flight VN1422 to Hochiminh City at 07:45
and arrival at Tan Son Nhat Int'l Airport at 08:55. Pick up and
transfer to a hotel in Hochiminh City centre.
