A visit of Halong & Haiphong in 2 days
Day 1: HANOI - HALONG
09.00 Departure for the three hour drive to Halong City.
On arrival in Halong check into your hotel, following, depart for
Halong Port to join your boat for the cruise on Halong Bay (or check in
on your return from the bay).
Start cruising through the emerald waters between the limestone
outcrops and long corridors, a seafood lunch will be served on board,
visit Dau Go Cave 'Grotto of the wooden stakes' where in 1288 one of
Vietnam's most famous Generals, Tran Hung Dao amassed hundreds of
stakes deep inside the cave prior to a battle with an invading Mongul
army.
Ashort walk away visit the newly discovered Thien Cung Cave ('Grotto of
the heavenly palace’), famous for its stalagmites and stalactites the
cave has only been opened to the public since 1998.
In the late afternoon you will arrive at Halong Bay Port, return to
your hotel (if time permits, take a tour of the seaside town).
Overnight in Halong City.
Day 2: HALONG - HAI PHONG - HANOI
In the morning, drive to Haiphong City. Take a tour around the town, followed by lunch.
In the afternoon drive back to Hanoi*.
*Optional visit: Along the way visit But Thap Pagoda, and
Dong Ho paper making Village. But Thap was built in the 17th century
and offers some interesting architectural styles, Dong Ho is a village
whose residents have been creating Vietnamese folk paintings for
centuries.
