Day 1 HANOI

On arrival, welcome by your guide at the airport and proceed to your selected hotel. (For arrival in the morning, hotel room will be available only from 13h00).

Overnight in Hanoi.

 

Day 2 HANOI   (B)

After breakfast, spend your day touring the capital and visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, its former residence, One Pillar Pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda and Temple of Literature. In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (closed on Monday), Ngoc Son Temple, enjoy a one-hour rickshaw tour of the capital and then spend some times in the old quarter with its antique shops.

Enjoy the water puppet show early in the evening.

Day 3 HANOI / HOA LU / HANOI   (B/L)

Breakfast at the hotel. Travel through the countryside to Hoa Lu, the ancient 10th century capital of Vietnam. On arrival, bicycle ride to Bich Dong Pagoda and then continue to Thung Nang pier. Board a small sampan for a spectacular 2-hour trip through one cave and numerous waterways and beautiful rural scenery of limestone cliffs and rice paddies. Return to have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh Dynastic temples before traveling by road back to Hanoi.

Day 4 HANOI / HALONG   (B/L/D)

After breakfast, depart by road to the famous Halong Bay. On the way, stop at the traditional ceramic factory of Chu Dau in Hai Duong. Arrive around 12h30 and board a junk for a memorable cruise through mystical Halong Bay. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch on board and spend your day admiring one of the natural marvels of Vietnam. Visit islets, caves and, weather permitting enjoy a swim in the clear waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

Dinner and overnight on the junk.

 

Day 5 HALONG / BUT THAP / HANOI / HUE (night train)   (B)

After breakfast, discover Man's Head Island, Tortoise Island, Luon Cave, Bai Tu Long Bay and Bai Tho Mountain and enjoy the lunch until disembarkation. The cruise ends at around noon, then, drive back to Hanoi. On the way, stop to visit But Thap Pagoda.

Free time till departure for the railway station for night train to Hue.

Option: flight Hanoi-Hue with overnight in Hue

 

Day 6 HUE   (B)

Arrive in Hue in the morning. Welcome by your guide and move to your hotel for breakfast ( the room might be available only from noon).

In the afternoon, visit Emperor Minh Mang's mausoleum and continue to drive to the seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda on the riverbank where at around 16h30 you might be able see the monks at their daily prayer. End the day with a boat trip on the gentle Perfume River.

Overnight in Hue.

 

Day 7 HUE / DANANG / HOI AN   (B)

After breakfast, continue by car and visit the Imperial Citadel and Tu Duc Mausoleum.

You will also stop at villages to see how conical hats and incense sticks are made.

Depart to Danang via the Hai Van Pass. On arrival, visit the Cham Museum and continue to Hoi An.

Overnight in Hoi An.

 

Day 8 HOI AN   (B)

After breakfast, visit the riverside town of Hoi An which was an important trading port during the 17th and 18th centuries and which is now considered a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a walking tour round Hoi An's ancient town and explore its treasures then visit a lantern making cottage and try to make your own lantern.

In the afternoon, enjoy a cruise on the Thu Bon River and stop on the way at a traditional ceramic and carpentry village.

Rest of the time at leisure.

Day 9 HOI AN / DANANG / HO CHI MINH CITY   (B)

After an early breakfast, depart to Hue Airport for your morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). On arrival, proceed to your selected hotel. In the same morning, discover the bustling Saigon: Enjoy a tour in the Old Colonial Residential Quarter with the old Hotel de Ville, the Opera House, the 19th century Notre-Dame Cathedral, the beautiful Central Post Office and the Reunification Palace (outside). In the afternoon, visit the War Remnants Museum and continue to Cho Lon and the bustling Binh Tay Markets. Finally, end the day with a visit to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda and a lacquer ware factory.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 10 HO CHI MINH CITY / CAI BE / VINH LONG / CAN THO   (B/L)

After breakfast drive to Cai Be in the heart of the Mekong Delta. On arrival board a sampan for a tour on the Mekong River and its myriad canals to Vinh Long. Visit an old colonial house, a rice popcorn factory and taste local specialties for lunch. In the afternoon, continue the journey to Vinh Long and then drive to Can Tho, the largest town in the Mekong Delta.

Overnight in Can Tho.

 

Day 11 CAN THO / MY THO / HO CHI MINH CITY   (B)

After breakfast, board a sampan to visit Cai Rang floating market and a fruit garden (Ba Cong) and then visit Binh Thuy Ancient House (over 100 years old). Observe the rural life and admire the lush vegetation along the riverbanks and discover Can Tho's market before driving back to Ho Chi Minh City. Along the way, visit a Caodai Temple (or Vinh Trang pagoda if Tay Ninh is already included in the program). Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City late in the afternoon.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 12 HO CHI MINH CITY   (B)

Free time until your departure to Tan Son Nhat airport for your flight.

  • If the clients cannot ride bicycle in Hoa Lu, transfers will be available by car or van.
