Day 1: Arrive Hanoi

Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Hanoi is situated on the right bank of the Red River which is spanned by two bridges, the old Long Bien Bridge and the new Chuong Duong bridge. It is an attractive city with lakes, tree-lined boulevards, and flourishing parks, as well as a public centre that is an architectural museum piece.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: City tour of Hanoi – Halong Bay

Enjoy a half day city tour of Hanoi : you will visit the Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and his house on stilt, the most beautiful pagodas located on the lakeside Tran Vu and Quan Thanh.

After lunch, transfer to Halong bay. Enjoy the dayney through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life.

Arrive in Halong and transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in Halong.

Day 3: Halong bay – Tam Coc

The morning is dedicated to a boat trip in the bay. The sailing junk will bring you through thousand of limestone peaks rising up from the crystalline emerald waters. Visit the most interesting grottos of the bay.  

Have lunch when the junk is back to the Halong pier.

Drive to Ninh Binh on a scenic road and overnight in Ninh Binh.

Day 4: Ninh Binh – Tam Coc – Hoa Lu - Hanoi

After breakfast take a sampan on a river through the rice paddies to the grottoes of the sacred Tam Coc Caves. Enormous limestone karsts jut out from the green rice fields giving rise to this place’s other name, ‘Halong on Land’.

A cycling tour to Vietnam’s first capital, Hoa Lu and visit the two remaining sanctuaries of the Kings Dinh and Le.

Transfer to Kenh Ga and enjoy 2 hour boat trip on Hoang Long river to contemplate the beauties of rural nature and how is the life in this floating village. Visit the fishing village.

Return to Hanoi late in the afternoon.

In the evening, enjoy a Water Puppet show.

Day 5: Hanoi - Hue

Transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Hue. Stop over to visit the Museum of Ethnology.

Upon arrival in Hue transfer to your hotel. Visit the Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 and the Dong Ba market.

Overnight in Hue.

Day 6: Hue - Danang – Hoi An

Cruise along the Perfume River and visit Thien Mu Pagoda.

Visit  Khai Dinh’s tomb.

Depart to Hoi An, world heritage Town via Danang. Stop at Lang Co beach and Pass of the Ocean Clouds for a short break.

Arrive in Hoi An late in the afternoon and overnight in Hoi An.

Day 7: Hoi An

A bike tour of the ancient town with the former merchants’ homes, the Fujian sanctuary, the Phuc Thanh pagoda, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colourful market.

A sampan ride on the Thu Bon river in the afternoon.

Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 8: Hoi An - Hochiminh City - Cu Chi – Mekong delta

Free in the morning. After lunch flight to Hochiminh City. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Drive to Cu Chi Tunnels, an elaborate system of underground tunnels. The secret tunnels, which joined village to village and often pass beneath American bases, were not only fortifications for Viet Cong guerillas, but were also the center of community life. Head for Can Tho and arrive late in the afternoon.

Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 9: Can Tho – Hochiminh City

Cruise to the colourful Cai Rang floating market and to floating villages. Walking tour at fruit orchards. The boat is then back to dry land.

Leave Can Tho for Hochiminh City and a city tour of Hochiminh City with Reunification Palace, Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral and the adjacent Gustave Eiffel designed Central Post Office.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Depart Hochiminh City
