Day 2. Lao Cai – Sin Chai (2 hours)

French hill resort and home to some of Vietnams most colourful ethnic
groups. Start out with a team of Black Hmong porters from Sapa and head
for the Black Hmong village of Sin Chai at the bottom of the beautiful
Sapa valley. The trek is short today but the stay in Sin Chai allows
for cultural acclimatization. Sin Chai is a community village. Here the
locals will take the time to teach textile weaving and dying, will take
the group on a locally built trail to explain the names and function of
the local flora. There will be the opportunity to participate in the
village community, there will be a traditional sporting activity and
tree planting. This is a sustainable tourism project. Overnight in Sin
Chai village homestay.
Day 3. Sin Chai – Base camp (6 hours)
An exciting morning heading to Base camp. Soon
after leaving the outskirts of Sin Chai, start hiking uphill. Trek
steeply uphill for about three hours then enjoy a bountiful lunch in

conditions, but there will be time for a good long break, before
trekking downhill to 2700 m and Basecamp 2 – a different location to
the first basecamp. Overnight in tented camp.
Day 5. Base camp 2 – Bamboo camp (5 hours)
Rise to the aroma of early morning coffee and
smells of cooked breakfast. After breakfast dismantle camp and trek
down the remoter ‘other side’ of Fansipan. At around 2400m the

There are now magnificent views over the Muong Hoa Valley. At an
altitude of 2400 m, the porters pitch camp for the night. Overnight in
tented camp.

a final night in tents alongside the banks of a clear mountain stream.
Overnight in tented camp.
Day 7. Seomity village – Ta Trung Ho village (6 hours)
The trekking is easier today and is punctuated by
the exciting crossing of two rivers – one via a primitive aerial
ropeway and the other a rickety old suspension bridge. Reaching
relative civilization of terraces of paddy fields and passing through
villages. Overnight in a stilt house in Ta Trung Ho, a village
inhabited by the Red Dao minority.
Day 8. Ta Trung Ho village – Nam Than – Sin Chai 2 village (6 hours)
Trek along the fringes of the rainforest skirting
the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range. Ascend to the Red Dao Village of Nam

village of Thanh Phu. Overnight in homestay.

valley.
