The Eco trail - Mai Chau Pu Luong

Trek through Mai Chau and Pu Luong nature reserve – a stunning valley with a backdrop of limestone mountains and looming presence of Mount Pu Luong. Hike along village paths through Thai villages and be greeted as honored guests as is Thai tradition.

Pu Luong is a globally important example of a lowland limestone forest ecosystem and is recognized as a world centre for plant diversity. The forests support many unique species including the Delacour’s langur, one of the most threatened primate species, found only in this area. The forests of Pu Luong are also of immense importance to local communities, but are threatened by illegal logging, hunting and burning. Community based tourism initiatives set up by Flora and Fauna International provide an income for the local people and this helps to encourage support for forest conservation.

One home stay host has remarked to Wildlotus Adventures client: ‘Though we are still very poor and lack experience, we will open our hearts to all tourists and trekkers’

This is a moderate trek. Be prepared to overnight in simple but clean conditions. Wildlotus Adventure guides highly recommend this trek for those who want to get off the beaten path.
