Day 1: Hanoi – Arrival (by air, road)

Arrive at Hanoi International airport, meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel downtown Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Vinh (road)
Journey south along Highway No. 1 through Ha Nam, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa province by vehicle from Hanoi to Vinh. Bomb craters and damaged buildings are still a dominant feature in this part of Vietnam. Nghe An and neighbouring Ha Tinh provinces are endowed with poor soil and some of the worst weather in Vietnam.
Excursion to Kim Lien and Hoang Tu

KIM LIEN: Ho Chi Minh's birthplace, the house in which he was born in 1890 is maintained as a sacred shrine and is a favorite pilgrimage spot for Vietnamese people. Ho's childhood home is a simple farmhouse, reflecting his humble background. Overnight at hotel in Vinh.

Day 3: Vinh - Dong Hoi (road, bike)
As with yesterday we begin our journey by bus to the small town of Ky Anh. We then revert to peddle power to negotiate the Ngang Pass. This mountainous coastal area forms part of what is known as the Transversal Range stretching from the Laos border to the sea along the 18th parallel. Our destination for tonight is the fishing port of Dong Hoi.

Day 4: Dong Hoi - Phong Nha - Dong Hoi (road, boat, bike)
Following breakfast we cycle 44km to the spectacular Phong Nha cave. The cave is probably the most beautiful and certainly the largest in Vietnam. The cave lies in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and UNESCO recently designated the area as the country fifth World Heritage Site. The park has some beautiful limestone formations, grottoes and caves as well as many 1,000m plus unexplored peaks. After having explored the cave we return by bicycle to Dong Hoi along part of the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Day 5: Dong Hoi - Dong Ha -Vinh Moc - Hue (road, bike)
Morning: Dong Hoi – Dong Ha (63km)

Today we continue to the South along Highway 1 using both our bicycles and our support vehicle. We reach the town of Dong Ha where we stay for the night. In reaching Dong Ha we pass through the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), scene of some of the bitterest fighting during the American War. Here we will visit Vinh Moc tunnels to see at first hand how the Viet Cong fought. The stretch of tunnels runs for nearly 3km and have not been altered for the tourists benefit.
Afternoon: Dong Ha - Hue (78km)
This afternoon, we drive to Hue - the former Imperial capital and cultural centre of Vietnam. After all check-in formalities are done, we set out our bike and explore this ancient city.

Day 6: Hue – Da Nang (road, bike)
A long day ride on along the coast Thuan An to Ghost city where you can learn the real Second Earth in traditional custom of the people in the center of Viet nam. Keep riding through 40km along the beach villages and take an hour motor boat to cross Cau Hai Lagoon to the other side for a mountain challenge before arrival Phuoc Tuong pass, highway No 1. Drive the rest of the road to the lunch break at picturesque Lang Co beach. After lunch, we have a chance to do the most challenging mountain ride in Sea Cloud Pass. Downhill to Da Nang city for the night.

Day 7: Da Nang – My Lai – Quang Ngai (road, bike)
Depart early along the coast and past scenic rice villages. We pass Chu Lai, a former American military base. Late afternoon visit a historical site My Lai (massacre). O/N at hotel in Quang Ngai

Distance: 160km from Da Nang – My Lai – Quang Ngai
Transfer: 80 - 90km to Quang Ngai
Cycling: 70 - 80km

Day 8: Quang Ngai – Quy Nhon (road, bike)
the coastal riding followed after lunch is at the golden sands of Sa Huynh beach - which is also a nice place for a dip in the cooling South China Sea, cycling past rural rice villages canopied by swaying coconut palms. We visit a Cham tower before taking our bus to Quy Nhon. O/N at hotel in Qui Nhon

Day 9: Quy Nhon – Nha Trang beach (road, bike)
Vietnam most scenic coastline, featuring deserted blue lagoons and stone promontories overlooking the waters below. Fishing villages, colored boats, mountain pass above the sea etc. Lunch & swim at scenic Dai Lanh beach. O/N at Resort in Nha Trang.

Transfer: 150 - 160km to Nha Trang

Day 10: Nha Trang – Saigon (road, bike)
Morning:
Leave after breakfast by bus for Phan Thiet breaking the 250km journey at Phan Rang to visit the spectacular Po Klong Garai Cham Temple. The landscape between Phan Rang and Phan Thiet changes to an arid semi-desert with sandy soil and prickly pear cactus.
Afternoon:
Leave after lunch for the final 200km passing through dense rubber plantations before reaching Bien Hoa and the outer suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City . Transfer to hotel on arrival. Overnight at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

Distance: 450km from Nha Trang – Sai Gon
Transfer: 370 - 380km to Saigon
The biking: 70 - 80km
