MapEmbed SkyDoorMobile versionFacebook pageFeedbackThe Ministry of Culture and Information has recognised Cu Lao Cham (Cham islands) in the central province of Quang Nam as a national landscape, announced Tran Minh Ca, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Province.
In celebration of this event, Quang Nam will organise the Quang Nam – Heritage Itinerary Festival in late June 2007.Cu Lao Cham comprises eight bow-shaped islands located on a total sea area of 15km². At present, Cu Lao Cham has 135 species of coral, including the first six pieces recognised in Vietnamese sea. According to scientists, Cu Lao Cham has 947 species of organisms living around the archipelago, with 170 sea organisms, 50 fish, and many species listed in Vietnam’s Red Book.
Quang Nam province has also compiled scientific files of this archipelago to submit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for consideration of Cu Lao Cham to be recognised as a world biosphere reserve.
Cu Lao Cham will be presented to visitors through a programme named “Cu Lao Cham – A legendary story” at Bai Ong on June 30, as part of the Quang Nam – Heritage Itinerary Festival.
