The simplicity of Thanh Toan tile bridge
"Who passes by Thanh Toan bridge, let's go together!" On the 10km course from the center of Hue city towards the East, going along the tarred way, the tourists notice immediately the image of Thanh Toan tile bridge.
History of the bridge
Thanh
Toan bridge is located in Thanh Toan village, Thuy Thanh commune, Huong
Thuy district. It is an arched bridge built according to the
architectural design "House with the top, bridge with the lower part".
It measures 17m long and 4m wide. On the two sides of the bridge, they
built two wooden platforms and a parapet for seat. The top of the
bridge is a hood of especially enameled tile tubular and divided into 7
spans.

Thanh Toan bridge crosses the drain, lengthening on the entire village Thanh Toan, in suburbs of Huế. This village is founded in the 16th century. Among people accompanying the lord Nguyen Hoang de Thanh Hoa to Thuan Hoa, 12 chiefs of the elder line stayed and established there. They formed 12 tribes of the village. A girl of the 6th generation of tribe Tran named Tran Thi Dao offered money to build a bridge of wood facilitating the displacement of villagers. In 1776, the Hien Tong congratulated this charitable donation on Mrs. Dạo. In 1925, King Khai Dịnh gave a royal order to name it Duc Bao Trung Hung Linh. It also ordered the construction of the furnace bridge of Mrs. Dạo on the bridge Thanh Toan. This is why this bridge still has another name "Cau pagoda".
A splendid fresco of the village
The
course driving to the bridge would be the most beautiful local road in
Viet Nam. At the bridge's sides, there are settles fields painted in
pure blue and two lines of poplars murmuring in the wind. They see
storks there walking small steps seeking their food and ducks wading in
water. From top, throwing a further glance until the bamboos of the
village, the visitors meet a banyan tree, a river quay, a vat... It is
a simple and adorable image.

Newcomer at this village, visitors can also take part in the activities of the peasants from here like: to bark rice, to pedal in water, to listen to popular songs of Hue women, to drink a cup of green tea or to taste specialties of the countryside cooked by villagers.
