Ban Gioc Waterfall is considered as one of
invaluable gifts that the nature has blessed for Cao Bang Province.
That is a grandiose, beautiful and high fall which is ranked as the
first-class waterfall in Vietnam. Ban Gioc Waterfall is located on the
frontier between Vietnam and China, pertaining to Dam Thuy Ward, Trung
Khanh District. It stays 89 kilometres far from Cao Bang Township,
following the Provincial street 206 to the north, and about 26
kilometres far from Trung Khanh Township. Behind the fall is a river
with green and pure water called Quay Son River. The banks aside the
river are very poetic and beautiful with green grass fields, green
forests and mountains and white bobbing clouds. Locating on the other
side of the river is the neibouring country China. With a dimension of
53 metres high and 300 metres wide, the cascade has three layers with
small and large rapids. The water falling from above through limestone
sections makes up a screen of dazzling white water. From a long
distance, tourists can hear drawling sounds of the fall which make the
cascade resounding in a large area. In the middle of the cascade, there
exists a large stone mound covered with plants which isolates the river
into three flows like three white strips of cloth. During the summer
days of hot weather, the atmosphere here is still cool and comfortable.
In the morning, the sunlight goes through the water screen and creates
a glistening rainbow. At the fall base is a large and flat water
surface which seems like a mirror. And on the bank is a green paddy
field of the very peaceful life.
The whole view of the fall
Ban Gioc Waterfall has gone into the shaping fine arts with unusually
beautiful works of painting and photographing. Together with the
mountain and the river, Ban Gioc Waterfall has become a wonderful
destination in Cao Bang Province which is well-known to many people
since a long time ago.
